Rumos Consulting points out five technology trends that will impact 2021
18 January, 2021
Based on the latest IDC and Gartner's predictions, Rumos Consulting has chosen five technology trends that will impact the national market in 2021 – The Rise of Cloud-based Infrastructures; Videoconferencing and Remote Work; Artificial Intelligence and AI Engineering; Accelerating Automation and Hyperautomation; and Internet of Behavior (IoB).
The Rise of Cloud-based Infrastructures
According to IDC, by the end of 2021, around 80% of enterprises will put a mechanism in place to shift to a cloud-based infrastructure in order to use applications twice as fast as before the pandemic. Gartner forecasts worldwide Public Cloud spending to grow 18% in 2021 to match organizations’ top three priorities: preserve money and optimize IT costs, support and secure a new remote workforce, and ensure business resilience.
Videoconferencing and Remote Work
IDC predicts hybrid systems will be adopted, giving collaborators the possibility to securely access the necessary resources to perform their jobs consistently, whether remotely, on-site, or between different locations. Furthermore, Gartner claims that by the end of 2023, 40% of organizations will provide better virtual and physical experiences to their customers and collaborators.
Artificial Intelligence and AI Engineering
It is estimated that by 2023, companies will invest in AI solutions. IDC states that one-quarter of G2000 companies will acquire at least one AI software start-up to ensure ownership of differentiated skills and IP. On the other hand, Gartner states that many AI projects face issues with performance, scalability, and reliability and that the rise of AI Engineering will help companies to better manage the lifecycle of projects, and to facilitate their performance, scalability, and reliability while delivering the full value of AI investments.
Accelerating Automation and Hyperautomation
According to IDC, by 2023, an emerging cloud ecosystem for extending resource control and real-time analytics will be the underlying platform for all IT and business automation initiatives anywhere and everywhere. Moreover, Gartner emphasizes that hyperautomation is irreversible and inevitable since anything that can be automated in an organization (really) should be automated.
Internet of Behavior (IoB)
The term Internet of Behavior (IoB) refers to technologies capable of capturing and using data generated daily by users, such as commercial data, social networks, facial recognition, and geolocation, to influence human behavior. Gartner's analysts believe that, by the end of 2025, over half of the world’s population will be subjected to at least one IoB program, whether from a private organization or the government.
IDC and Gartner’s technology trends predictions for 2021 seek to modernize and innovate technological processes and consequently make companies even more flexible and with greater ability to adapt themselves. Rumos Services believes that Modern Workplace, Analytics, or Artificial Intelligence solutions may be in great demand this year, due to the paradigm shift caused by the pandemic.
