Coming from the world of Marketing and Advertising, Sara Martins enrolled in the Project Manager Academy to deepen her knowledge of the profession. As a result of her new skills and certifications, she didn’t have to wait long to see positive results.
What was your field of study and/or profession before starting the Rumos Academy?
My master’s degree is in Marketing, and I have always worked as an Account or Project Manager, but within the Marketing and Advertising field. I have worked in both digital environments and, in recent years, in graphic design and print.
Why did you decide to attend the Rumos Academy?
The digital sphere has always been where I felt most comfortable, it was where I grew as a Project Manager and I wanted to deepen my knowledge of the profession itself. The methodologies taught at the Academy are related to new professional areas, so it was strategically more interesting for my career. I often thought about applying my knowledge to my field of expertise, but it was complicated, since it requires an effort from companies, both from leaders and teams.
Did the Academy meet your expectations? What are the main positive aspects of the training program?
The Academy met all my expectations and allowed me to achieve the results I wanted - obtain certification and make professional changes. Although there were some bumps along the way, as my colleagues and I were part of the pilot class, the final balance is very positive, and the course coordination is always available to make the necessary adjustments to help the students.
What impact has the Academy had or will have on your professional career?
It allowed me to find a job opportunity in the field that I wanted and that I am passionate about. It also allowed me to realize that this is the career I want to pursue and in which I want to improve and grow, and it helped me to clear up some doubts I had in my head. By the end of the first class, those doubts were gone!
What advice would you give to someone considering attending a training program like this?
Think about whether you like the field in particular, whether this is the professional future you want to pursue, and make sure you are mentally prepared for months of focus, sacrifice, and many hours of study if you want to get the certifications, which are completely worth it! If you answered "yes" to these questions, then go for it!
Would you attend a Rumos training program again?
Absolutely. Training is a big investment, and many companies still undervalue training for their employees. I am privileged to be able to make this investment myself, and all the other investments I have made so far have paid off. I will now deepen my knowledge in more specific areas of my job and will definitely consider taking more courses in the future.
