Tiago Lopes, from professional football to programming
22 July, 2019
From professional football to a career in Java development? Tiago Lopes shows us that anything is possible as long as we do it with passion.
What was your field of study and/or occupation before starting the Rumos Academy?
I was studying accounting and was a professional footballer at Varzim Sport Club.
Why did you decide to attend the Rumos Academy?
I realized that I did not want to work in accounting, and since I have always been interested in the IT world, I decided to pursue this career path, and Rumos was the logical choice to help me in this process.
Did the Academy meet your expectations? What are the main positive aspects of the training program?
The Java Programming Academy met all my expectations, as during the training program I acquired the knowledge I initially expected. I would like to highlight the trainers (namely António Sousa and Bruno Aguiar) and the tools provided for the training program, as well as the friendliness and availability of all the staff.
What impact has the Academy had or will have on your professional career?
It has already had an enormous impact on my career, both in the short and long term, as I am currently employed in the field I trained for and the prospects for growth are tremendous.
What is your current professional situation?
I work at Eurohelp Consulting as a Junior Java Developer.
What advice would you give to someone considering attending a training program like this?
Dedicate as much time as you can to the training program, and you will reap the rewards in the end.
Would you attend a Rumos training program again?
Absolutely.
